Shaking the bottle will combine the oil and the rest of the contents so that the oil is evenly dispersed with the alcohol content and therefore is more likely to stay. Dressing very shortly after applying perfume is a big mistake as this can take away some of the fragrance. You should always make sure that the scent is completely dry on the skin before applying clothes. You should also think about dabbing perfume rather than spraying it as this can also help for the scent to stay longer.
